Continuing my series of BG2 companions, as before using Minsc as a counterpoint to let them demonstrate their personalities through their interactions with him.
Mazzy Fentan
LG Halfling “Fighter”

Mazzy is our honest-to-goodness heroic halfling not-a-paladin. Her very existence makes a mockery of 2E rules about what races are allowed to be what classes. And she is absolutely awesome. Everything from making Valygar her squire to her attitude toward being every inch the paladin in all but name while acknowledging and dismissing the skepticism of larger folk.
This is another companion that I love to adventure with, but whose hairstyle is an absolute pain to reproduce with the AI. I must have tried 100 variations on “twists”, “dreads”, and “braids”. So I did what I could to come up with something that still looks like Mazzy to me. I included a number of the variations below so that folks can pick and choose which one looks best to them.
“(polish halfling woman),(puffy face),brawny,(short neck),stout,strong,(age 35),kind,(serene smile),regal,(orange bob hair twist dreads with rings),(brown eyes),(bronze banded armor),knight;(in forest);(oil paint),drawing,(dark fantasy),(dark shading)“

Valygar Corthala
NG Human Ranger/Stalker

I see Valygar is a more subdued, quiet type of hero. He is thoughtful and reserved. Doesn’t speak often, but when he does he has something important to say. Thoughtful,observant, and concerned with what is honorable and right. I envision him as a mix of eastern african and japanese styles.
“(sudanese man),(age 30),(powerful build),ranger,stoic,quiet,(braided hair in rows),(short goatee),(brown eyes),(japanese leather armor), katana;in the forest;(oil paint),drawing,(rpg portrait),(dark fantasy),(dark shading)”

Nalia de’Arnise
CG Human Thief->Mage

Nalia is a sheltered woman with a good heart and good instincts, but little experience. And she doesn’t even understand just how sheltered and inexperienced she really is. Her picture to me has always looked suspiciously like Drew Barrymore – but of course I can’t say that in a prompt.
“(english woman, age 25), hardy build, puffy face, (light brown hair with beads), wearing a (yellow cape with blue stripes) and a (thin leather headband);in the forest;oil paint,drawing,rpg portrait,
dark fantasy,dark shading“

Anomen Delryn
LN Human Fighter->Cleric

Anomen is certainly a… difficult companion to like when you first meet him. He’s headstrong, impetuous, overly impressed with himself, and has a temper to boot. He can eventually settle down into a more amicable companion (or continue on the path to all-out jerk).
“(brawny German knight),(neat brown quiff),(strong chiseled jaw),(neat goatee),small ear-rings,(yellow cape draped stylishly),(silver plate armor adorned with stag motif),(small forehead scar),(30 years old),(arrogant expression),(standing confidently in a medieval city);(oil paint) drawing,(dark fantasy),(dark shading)”

Minsc & Mazzy
While Mazzy is not quite certain about Minsc at first, Minsc clearly admires and respects her and she warms up to him soon enough. And she would definitely be fond of Boo.

Minsc & Valygar
Valygar comes across to me as likely to be initially even less sure of Minsc’s stability and sanity than Mazzy. Mazzy comes around pretty quickly, but I think Valygar takes longer. Especially because I think Minsc’s rather over-the-top and physical means of expressing himself might be a bit much for the more reserved Valygar.

Minsc & Nalia
Nalia is another companion who I think would take a while to accept Minsc (and Boo) at face value. He’s just too different in too many ways to anything she knows, and she’s a bit too sheltered at the start not to judge a book by its cover.

Minsc & Anomen
This relationship may be somewhat strained – particularly at first. I think Minsc in his own way would sense some of the hypocrisy and misaligned values that trouble Anomen when you first meet him. He likely sees Anomen as a bit too stuck on what is “proper and noble” over what is “good and right”. And Anomen might see Minsc as a warrior in need of discipline. If Anomen ultimately takes the good path I suspect he and Minsc get along better, but are still not close. If Anomen takes the bad path… then he and Minsc are unlikely to get along at all.
