Darius was finally able to concentrate on helping the River Kingdoms reach its true potential. Tuskdale became a beacon of trade and learning, and Darius used his position and influence to better all lands in the area.

He was particularly proud of his temple of Irori – God of Enlightenment and Knowledge. Irori had not been commonly worshipped in the River Kingdoms. His faith was a bit esoteric for a people trying to eke out a living under constant disaster and turnover. But with the newfound peace and prosperity, the faith found many new adherents.

Nyrissa was no longer sure of her place in the worlds – but she was sure of one thing. She wanted to make up for her role – however unwitting – in the chaos and sorrow of the River Kingdoms for the last thousand years. The veil separating the First World would always be thin here, and there would always be new threats, challenges, and opportunities emerging as a result. And so she dedicated her next thousand years to nurturing and protecting the fledgling kingdom.

Darius and Nyrissa remained close – as they understood each other as few others could. Their customs and thought patterns were alien to each other, but their motivations and aspirations could not have been more similar. They were never “officially” bonded. The politics of that pairing would have been disastrous. But Nyrissa was a common sight in the capital, and the people grew to consider her a different being entirely than the “Guardian of the Bloom” who had once so vexed their lives.

The Aldori’s simmering resentments with the Surtovas in Brevoy eventually broke out into Civil War. Darius supported Lady Jamandi and Rostlandย in their bid for independence, and in the end the Aldori established their own state – as a firm ally of the River Kingdoms

Maha and Kwan had had enough of staying in one place. Their inherent wanderlust began to get the better of them again. So Darius commissioned for them a new ship – the New Horizon. And tasked them with exploration – discovering and mapping new opportunities and trade routes.

Angelique was done with wandering and adventure, but the wind and waves still called to her. So she assumed a role as “Guardian of the Coast” – rescuing ships, mitigating storms, and driving off pirates from her beloved home on the cliffs.

Regongar and Octavia went underground rescuing slaves from the Technic League in Numeria – including leading a number of successful slave revolts in outlying colonies and outposts. Darius could not officially sanction this activity without committing to war with Numeria, but a rather large number of former Numerian slaves found new identities, lives, and homes in the River Kingdoms.

Darius never found a way to part Linzi from her beloved journal, but she soon discovered that this was far less limiting than she supposed. She could move to almost *any* book nearby, and so she quickly became ensconced as the official Librarian of the Capital Library. She literally knew every book inside and out.

Jubilost returned to exploring and cataloging the world, with a particular interest in artifacts of the First World. Sometimes he set sail on the New Horizon. Sometimes he went his own ways. But he always returned to donate first editions of his books to the Capital Library, giving Linzi a first crack at each new tome

Ekundayo dedicated his life to protecting peasants on the outskirts – so that no other isolated family would suffer as had his. He became a reknowned Monster Hunter for decades to come. Amiri never quite fit back in with her tribe, and didn’t really enjoy hanging around the capital, so ended up teaming up with him. Monster Hunter made a pretty good fit for her, and helped channel her aggression into something useful.

The Forefather eventually returned to claim Kanerah and Kalikke – banking on their technical violation of Nethys’ “contract” allowing them to share a life. But when he pursued his case, Nethys’ avatar denied that there had ever been any “contract”. He had given the sisters their wish purely to see what they would make of it. The “terms” that the Forefather had interpreted as a “contract” had merely been advice. This enraged the Forefather, and he attempted to take what was his “due” by force. But with Darius’ help he was banished back to the Abyss.

Trisitian was forgiven for his loss of faith and doubts, and after many years of service to the people of the River Kingdoms he regained his immortality and was welcomed back into Sarenrae’s host.

Valerie retired from leading the Diplomatic corp as soon as suitable replacements were available. She was good at the job… but hated constantly “babysitting pompous ne’er-do-wells”. She was much happier as commander of the palace guard.

Harrim eventually reconciled his faith in Groetus with his new understanding of his true place in Dwarven culture. He never quite converted to following Torag, but he made peace with the dwarven God. He became an elder sought out among dwarven clans for his ability to lay to rest ancient dwaarven artifacts, golems, and magics.

With the Fey crisis averted, Maegar returned to his beloved Varnhold. It grew into a strong region in its own right, becoming a critical trade hub on the passage through the eastern hills.

Storyteller returned to his travels soon after the Lantern King was vanquished, saying he had other stories to follow – and was no longer needed here. He vanished as mysteriously as he had arrived.
Kesten continued on as Captain of the City Guard, content with keeping the peace and settling local disputes.

Jhod became the head of the Church of Erastil in the River Kingdoms – consistently one of the strongest faiths in the realm due to its focus on rural communities and traditions. He learned to make peace with the more urban gods like Abadar, but he never lost sight of his true calling. He continued to be deeply involved in both the Orphanage and the Hospital.

And so ended the Saga of the Stolen Lands, and the tumultuous birth of the nation of the River Kingdoms.
Author’s Notes:
I took poetic license with some of the endings, but all in all it doesn’t differ *that* much from the ones the game provided..
