Keira and Kord BG2: The Underdark

After escaping Spellhold with Imoen, and once again being betrayed by Saemon Havareon, Keira and Kord found themselves in a city of the Sahuagin. After a brief episode helping a rogue Prince overthrow an insane Sahuagin King, they found themselves hot on Irenicus’ trail in the Underdark…

Entry to the Underdark

Confirming with each other before heading down into the depths…

Lost!

This led to some disagreements about directions as the tunnel complex grew more confusing.

Gnome City

They eventually made their way to a Deep Gnome mining village, and met with the Gnomes there. They knew where Irenicus had gone, and were willing to guide Keira and Kord to someone who could help them sneak into the Drow City… in exchange for help. They had mined too deeply and unsealed… something… which needed to be dealt with and re-sealed.

Balrog

The “something” turned out to be a Balrog, and Keira and Kord had to defeat it and seal the tunnel from which it came.

Meeting a Silver Dragon

After being rewarded by the gnomes with a wardstone allowing entry to a dark cavern, Keira and Kord discovered the “someone who could help” was, in fact, an ancient Silver Dragon named Adalon! Adalon told them the drow had stolen her eggs to keep her from interfering with their war on the surface elves. Keria and Kord agreed to retrieve her eggs in exchange for unsealing a passage back to the surface.

Drow Disguises

Adalon magically disguised them as Drow so they could infiltrate the Drow city – Ust Natha.

See the whole party as Drow here:

Ust Natha

Their first views of Ust Natha were not encouraging…

Kuo-Toan

After several missions for a Drow house, they were tasked with obtaining blood from an Elder Race. They found an outpost of Kuo-Toa, and took down their leader.

Ritual

After returning with the Kuo-Toan blood, they set up multiple double-crosses with fake Dragon Eggs to ruin the Drow plot to obtain demonic help against the surface elves.

Escape

Then they were forced into a mad dash to escape the Drow City before their disguises expired.

Returning Eggs

They returned Adalon’s eggs, and were granted passage back to the surface.

Return to the Surface

Adalon took them to the exit from the underdark. After a brief battle with drow guardians, and a few skirmishes with drow war parties on the way up, they finally found their way back towards the light…

  1. A lot to look at here! I’ve tried a few in the Underdark and it interesting to see some familiar struggles with getting things right. But overall this is all very appealing.

    1. It certainly likes to put sky overhead, doesn’t it? Hardest parts this time were the Balrog fight (for some reason having the Balrog in the pic drastically changes what Keira and Kord look like). And teasing out something resembling Kua-toa.

    2. That and the AI’s *constant* need to add extra actors to the scene. You would think “two characters fighting a Balrog” or the like would be clear on that point…

  2. No doubt! Yeah I liked the one with Kord the Balrog.

    1. Heh. Yeah. I just liked Keira’s pose so much in that one I kept it anyway.
