Keira and Kord BG2: Irenicus Finale

And so it comes down to this. Keira and Kord return to Suldanessellar to deal with Irenicus once and for all.

Saving the City

When they reach the city, it is being besieged by Irenicus’ forces. They have to push back the invaders, face a dragon, and summon a God to stablize things. Upon reaching the Palace, they discovered Irenicus was attempting to drain the sacred Elven Tree of Life to gain the power to challenge the Elven gods. Keira and Kord raced to elminate the parasites he has summoned to draing the tree, enabling the Elf Queen to sever his connection to it. Then it was down to Keira and Kord doing what they do best.

Kord draws his attention

Kord challenged Irenicus head on, withstanding a furious torrent of magic as as he kept Irenicus’ focus entirely upon him.

Keira takes Irenicus by surprise

Keira by this point had far more tricks than even Irenicus knew about. She created a shadow double to attack with Kord, allowing Irenicus to believe she was engaged and struggling at his side. In actuality she was hidden from senses both magical and mudane as only she can, and she slipped around for the final blow, appearing behind him just as he believed victory was at hand.

Irenicus meets the Afterlife

As Irenicus lay dying, a Hellish portal opened in the sky and sucked him down to his just deserts.

Keira and Kord get sucked in too!

Unfortunately for them, Keira and Kord had little time to savor this, as they discovered Keira was being pulled in as well! Kord tried desperately to reach her, but could not stop her being sucked in…

So he did what any good brother would do. Dived right in after her

The final confrontation

In Hell Keira was tasked by strange demons with affirming her loyalties and reclaiming her birthright. Once she completed this they were faced with Irenicus once again. And he summoned an army of Greater Demons to his aid for good measure.

And then he himself took Slayer form to eliminate Keira and company for good.

Keldorn takes the brunt

Keldorn drew the brutal role of keeping Slayer Irenicus initally occupied while everyone else got things under control. It was almost more than he could handle, but he’s as tough as they come and simply refused to go down.

Kord and Minsc fight Demons

Kord, of course, found the biggest, baddest Balors he could find and made them rethink their career choices….

While Minsc was having the time of his life “kicking butt for Goodness”!

Keira’s angle

When Keldorn began to be overwhelmed Keira’s new companions kept Irenicus off-balance and disoriented.

Enter Jaheira

Jaheira began by helping deal with the demon onslaught, and as Kord and Minsc got control of that she began to hit Irenicus with her own brand of combo moves – tying him down magically while peppering him with custom arrows specially designed to weaken arcane defenses.

Imoen turns the tide

And once Imoen got free of the demons enough to concentrate on an arcane assault, the balance rapidly began to shift.

Keira pounces

Once Imoen, Jaheira, and Keldorn made Irenicus vulnerable, Keira really let him have it….

Deathblow

Until even Slayer Irenicus couldn’t keep up, and dodged the wrong way one time too many…

The Heroes Celebrate

As Irenicus was sucked backed to Hell, permanently and without power this time, Keira, Kord, and the others were restored to life in Suldanessellar. It was finally over. The Queen honored their sacrifices, and the entire town threw a massive celebration.

Kord’s Greatest Challenge

Kord had at this point faced Dragons, Vampires, and Hell itself. But he was at a complete loss when faced with his greatest challenge… Keira and Imoen insisting he join them in Dancing!

A moment of Peace

Afterwards they climbed up to a hill overlooking the city, and Keira, Kord, and Imoen reflected on all they had been through. Remembering friends lost and wondering about the path head. Little knowing that their struggles with power-mad Bhaalspawn had one more Chapter left to come…

  1. I love how you got everyone involved! Some really awesome stuff, it’s surprising how fun it is to see the old BioWare characters involved.

you got some consistency on your version of the Slayer. That looks good in a bad way!

And I love Minsc enjoying his ultimate butt kicking.

    1. Bah. Make that “gave me brutality without having to try very hard. And Minsc as a goofy Conan works awesome.” Stupid auto-spellcheck on my phone.

  2. I’m going to do another article about combat scenes in a bit. I learned a lot about coaxing violence out of the prompts while doing this. Including the importance of style/. I used “Frank Frazetti” style in particular for things like Minsc. So much Conan art is similar that it gave me brutality without having to try. Dry hard. And Monaco as a goofy Conan works awesome.

    1. I look forward to that! I still get a lot blocked results when combat gets close to bloodshed.
