After returning to Kuldahar with the portal closed and the undead eliminated, they were met with one final ambush by Yuan-Ti from Dragon’s Eye and Legion of the Chimera reinforcements. But with help from the Druid Iselore, and without additional forces from the Yuan-Ti of Chult, they were able to beat them back. At that point Iselore finally revealed to pathway to the Severed Hand… which passed directly through the Dragon’s Eye. They were skeptical of this “coincidence”, but it allowed them to tie up and Yuan-Ti loose ends before continuing on.
Upon arriving at the Dragon’s Eye, they were immediately ambush by Frost Salamanders, a trapped bridge, and a Yuan-Ti sorceress. But it was a nuisance force rather than a serious threat, and the sorceress teleported away as soon as they got close.
After fighting their way through assorted lizardmen and yuan-ti, they came to a prison area. A quick search of a nearby torture room led to discovery of a hidden mechanism to open the entry doors. After a brief battle with the Yuan-Ti guardians, they directed the remaining prisoners to safety and/or arms as best they could. One prisoner, however, approached them with a different proposal.. Nherro Fhutma was apparently a sage studying the ways of the Yuan-Ti, and had intentionally allowed himself to be captured as a part of a bizarre scheme to temporarily experience the Histachii transformation for his research. The plan seemed insane, but as he was their best source for information about the Yuan-Ti in Dragon’s Eye they decided to humour him and help as they could. First, he asked that they find his partner, who had been planning to sabotage some of the ingredients the Yuan-Ti alchemist used for Histachii potions to make the process temporary. Meanwhile he would research what he could of the Dragon’s Eye Yuan-Ti’s plans from the first level library. While searching for Nherro’s companion, they discovered the reason for his absence… A large boulder trap! Fortunately, they proved fleeter of foot than Nherro’s unfortunate associate.Solstice attempted to make contact with the deceased explorer, but he was clearly distraught about a missing sword to which he had some strong connection. They would get nothing out of him until his sword was returned – and his spirit mollified. After exploring further in the complex, battling Yuan-Ti and Spiders, they stumbled upon the weapon. When they returned it, the now peaceful sage was able to show them where he had hidden the ingredients for the altered potion before his death.Unfortunately where he had thrown the missing ingredient was the lair of a very large, very territorial Ancient Wyvern. So recovering them did not prove easy… But eventually they were able to provide Nherro with the ingredients he needed, and he was able to fulfill his bizarre dream. In exchange he agreed to continue helping them interpret whatever information they could find. They had to fight their way past large Iron Golems and other terrors on the lowest level. Well this guy looks fun. You want first crack at him?Unfortunately it turned out that the needed more specific expertise from Nherro than they expected. It turns out that to open the innermost sanctum required accessing an area guarded by the Eye of Sseth, which clouded the mind of any non Yuan-Ti approaching. One of them would have to use Nherro’s potion to become temporarily Histachii to enter. Elara wanted no part of arcane shapechanging, so Solstice volunteered for the mission. It was a… most unpleasant experience.Inside the Sanctum they found a small boy asking for his Mother… while surrounded by dead bodies. Something did *not* seem right, and Solstice’s Paladin instinct were once again screaming. These instinct proved quite well-founded, as when he saw she was not buying his act the boy began… changing… and turning the sticks and bodies in the room into giant snakes. The boy was none other than the Yuan-Ti high priest himself!Among the other items found in the High Priest’s private chambers was a small amulet with the inscription “Cera Sumat”. Katarina suddenly realized this made sense of some of the ravings of the Banite Priest they had defeated in the Kuldahar graveyard. He had been searching for an amulet that his dreams told him led to ultimate Doom. But Katarina recognized the symbol on the amulet as that of Helm, and one of her grandfather’s old stories cam back to mind. The Legendary Holy Avenger blade, Cera Sumat. Which had been forged from the power of six “Lost Followers” – former adventurers turned evil defeated by the first wielder of Cera Sumat. Bringing the amulet back to the Graveyard would summon the mythical blade… but also release the Six. But Katarina felt she had no choice. They would need the power of Cera Sumat to defeat the Legion of the Chimera, and its return could do much good in the world. And so that is exactly what the did. The battle was brutal. The Six were every bit as powerful as legend warned. But Katarina and her companions had grown quite a bit themselves in the course of their adventure. And in the end, they were victorious. Cera Sumat was theirs!

wow, I really like the wyvern! That one is awesome. Also the golem, very nice take on what it should look like.
The little boy/monster is well done too. I love snakes forming and the boy about to reveal his true nature.
I got a lot of great Wyvern pics. Hardest part was selecting which one I wanted to use. The AI actually has some idea what a wyvern is – it at least sort-kinda gets that its 2-legged-dragon-like. No luck whatseover on a stinging tail. Gave up on that. Either got scorpion hybrids or ignoring the words altogether. This is what I ended up using – trying to make it attack like a bird-of-prey without getting too many pics with feathers.
“action;blurred motion;(huge wyvern,raptor talons) (pounces like eagle) on shield of (dwarf,axe);(short stout dwarf man,metal helmet,brown hair,short beard,leather armor,backpack);(huge wyvern,long tail);in dark cave;fantasy oil painting”
